Film industry worker Manohar Shukla, 43, allegedly killed his lover in Palghar after she refused to drop a rape allegation against him. Naigaon, which is part of Palghar district, was the site of the horrific incident.
On Tuesday, police went to Manohar Shukla’s Evershine flat in Vasai and arrested him there. Poornima, his wife, was also arrested. There’s something unsettling about the details of the crime.
Crime Scene Information
Horrifyingly, it is speculated that Shukla and his wife Poornima were complicit in covering up the crime. They allegedly packed the body inside a bag, rode a scooter more than 150 km, and dumped it near a creek in Valsad, Gujarat. A two-year-old daughter accompanied them on this gruesome errand so as not to raise suspicion.
The unfortunate event occurred between August 9 and August 12, and the victim was a 28-year-old cosmetics artist. In Valsad, Gujarat, her body was discovered wrapped in plastic beside a creek.
Crime Uncovered Through Investigation
When no one came forward to claim the body, the police in Valsad filed an Accidental Death Report (ADR) and cremated the remains. However, questions were raised about her death because of the suspicious circumstances.
The deceased drowned before her body was hidden in the luggage, as was discovered during the preliminary investigation. The suspect was identified as Manohar Shukla, a citizen of Vasai City.

Context and Connections
The victim and the suspect, Manohar Shukla, were both residents of Vasai in 2013. They started dating a year after meeting, and Shukla kept seeing the victim even after he married Poornima in 2018. The argument started in early 2019 when Poornima found out about the romance.
On August 14, after the victim’s family reported her missing, authorities began looking for her. Upon receiving a complaint from the victim’s sister, police on Monday filed a First Information Report (FIR) under Sections 302 (murder) and 201 (causing the removal of evidence of the offense).
