A disturbing video purportedly showing numerous National Cadet Corps (NCC) trainees being beaten by their seniors at Joshi-Bedekar College in Thane’s Vidya Prasarak Mandal institution went viral.

The video has rocked Thane, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s hometown. No one had come forward to report the event before yesterday evening. Therefore, the police did not open an investigation until then.

At least six unnamed students can be seen lying on the ground in the mud and rain while their senior classmates beat them with sticks. Despite the students’ cries for help and pleas, the beatings continue.

The act was described as “shocking” and “shameful” by Joshi-Bedekar College Principal Suchitra Naik.

“In my opinion, the upperclassmen who have participated in the harsh beating of the underclassmen are mentally ill. That’s because they’re not human.

Most students and their parents keep relatively quiet, seemingly out of fear for their educational futures. We’ve made a plea to the impacted kids, asking them to come forward, name the seniors involved, and file complaints.

She remarked that while the NCC had previously done laudable work at the university, the recent episode was “really shameful.”
