On Wednesday, the Delhi High Court released ex-AAP councilor Tahir Hussain on bail for five offenses stemming from the 2020 riots in Delhi. Dayal Pur Police Station is where all of these incidents will be recorded in 2020. Justice Anish Dayal issued the ruling that allowed for the release of the bond.
In a Wednesday ruling, Justice Anish Dayal remarked, “Bail granted subject to conditions in all 5 FIRs.” Hussain had asked for release in the cases. The charges against the ex-mayor stem from the violence that broke out in February 2020.
Two persons were injured when a riotous crowd threw stones, petrol bombs, and fired gunshots from the terrace of Hussain’s house. Therefore, the cases also involve attempted murder charges and a breach of the Arms Act.
A Larger Conspiracy Said to Involve Hussain Explained the Riots
Hussain is also being investigated for vandalizing government property. He is accused of being a part of the “larger conspiracy” behind the riots, with activists Sharjeel Imam and Umar Khalid and the immediate FIRs. Infractions of the UAPA are at issue here.
