In his upcoming film, “Mission Raniganj: The Great Bharat Rescue,” Akshay Kumar will portray the role of Jaswant Singh Gill, a courageous mining engineer.

In 1989, Jaswant Singh Gill rescued 64 workers who were trapped in a flooded coal mine in Raniganj, West Bengal. Akshay Kumar shared a throwback photograph of Jaswant Singh Gill, taken in 1961, standing outside the Indian School of Mines.

In an Instagram post, the actor paid a special tribute to late mining engineer Jaswant Singh Gill. Akshay Kumar wrote:
