Shikhar Dhawan’s Divorce Granted: Cricket Star’s Tale of Separation and Strife

In a recent legal development, Indian cricket sensation Shikhar Dhawan has been granted a divorce by a Delhi Court, citing cruelty inflicted upon him by his estranged wife, Aesha Dhawan. This poignant separation has garnered widespread attention due to the compelling circumstances surrounding their relationship.

The Love Story Unraveled

Dhawan and Aesha, who tied the knot in 2012, had been a power couple in the world of cricket and celebrity. Their union bore fruit in the form of a 10-year-old son named Zoravar, who became the center of their lives. However, beneath the glamorous façade, their marriage was marred by emotional turmoil and geographical separation.

The Accusations

Dhawan made grave allegations against his wife, who resides in Australia, asserting that she subjected him to immense mental agony. This suffering stemmed from a long-distance marriage that forced him to stay away from his beloved son, Zoravar, for several years. Both Aesha and Zoravar are Australian citizens, adding a layer of complexity to their already tumultuous relationship.

The Verdict

Family Court Judge Harish Kumar, after careful consideration, validated Dhawan’s accusations against his wife. In his verdict, the judge stated that Aesha failed to disprove these allegations as false. He acknowledged that Dhawan had endured significant emotional distress through years of separation from his son, despite the wife’s denial of wrongdoing.

The judge’s order read, “He (Dhawan) for no fault of his own had been through immense agony and anguish of living separately from his own son for years. Even though the wife denied the allegation, submitting that she genuinely wanted to live in India with him, she did not choose to contest the claim. The respondent, by conducting herself in this manner, has inflicted such cruelty, agony, and trauma on him that it was impossible for the petitioner to save the marriage.”

Financial Allegations

Dhawan also alleged that Aesha had ‘compelled’ him to purchase and transfer ownership of three properties in Australia to her name, which she failed to refute. The court found merit in Dhawan’s claim that she coerced him into making her a partial owner of these properties or pocketing the sale proceeds.

“The respondent was required to prove that the properties were purchased out of her own funds or that her name was included out of love and affection. Thus, Dhawan’s allegation that she compelled him to make her an owner to some extent in all three properties or that she pocketed the sale proceeds thereof has to be believed as true,” ruled the court.

Child Support Dispute

Adding another layer to the legal battle, Dhawan claimed that he was forced to provide child support not only for their son, Zoravar but also for Aesha’s two daughters from her previous marriage. He alleged that Aesha was already receiving child support for her daughters from her first husband, intensifying the financial strain on him.

A Ray of Hope

Despite the acrimony, the court’s verdict did offer a glimmer of hope for Dhawan. He was granted visitation rights to meet his son, Zoravar. As per the court’s order, Aesha must bring Zoravar to India for visitation, overnight stays with Dhawan and his family, and during school holidays.

In conclusion, Shikhar Dhawan’s divorce saga is a poignant tale of love and loss, marked by allegations of cruelty and financial disputes. It highlights the challenges faced by high-profile individuals in navigating complex relationships while living in the public eye.
